Spring Festivals

Pesach (Passover)

God delivers Israel from Egypt through the plagues. A lamb is killed and its blood is spread on the doorway marking the house so that the angel of death passes over that house. The angel would slay the first born sons in every house that didn't have the lamb's blood on the door post.

Let's study the times and hours involved in this feast.

The time between 12:00 Noon adn 3:00 p.m. is called the minor evening, while 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. is called the major evening. The hours are counted in quarters from 6:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. The ninth hour is when Jesus (Yeshua) was slain (3:00 p.m.).

The sheep was slain on the 14th of Aviv (Thursday), visited the grave of Joseph on the 15th, and crossed the sea on the 17th (Sunday). Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection also happens on these exacts days of the week. Jesus was not slain on a Friday. The following verse is where this ideas comes from:

(John 19:31 KJV) The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Hag Ha Matzah (Festival Of Unleavened Bread)

This is the second festival. The name comes from the fact that during this week the children of Israel ate matzah (unleavened bread).

Hag Ha Matzah (Festival of the Barley Harvest)

This is the third festival that occurs the day after the weekly Sabbath(Saturday). This is the first Sunday after the 15 of Aviv. The 15th of Aviv is the first "Shabbaton" (high Sabbaths). Jesus rose from the dead on a Sunday, and is called the "firstfruits of thos that rise from the dead". This is also that smae historical day that Egypt emerged from the parted Red Sea.

Shavuot (Feasts Of Weeks (Pentecost))

After the Red Sea, Israel traveled forty days to Mount Sinai, plus three days of separation to fulfill the fifty days. Jesus' will resurrection and the falling of the Holy Spirit will parallel this same time.

This fourth festival commemorates the events that took place at Mt. Sinai. [Construction][Construction]
